Aims and Scope

Aims and scope

Everything is subject to change in the flow of time. With the increasing use of artificial intelligence in accomplishing most activities of society, the level of human consciousness appears to be moving toward a decline. Originality seems to be gradually diminishing. Human thought, social life, and cultural existence today are in a state of admixture and confusion. In other words, people are becoming increasingly unaware of their ordinary way of life.

As civilization advances, human beings are becoming accustomed to technology to a great extent; however, they are becoming even more detached from their ancient traditions and heritage. They are blindly imitating modernity. Instead of examining various aspects of folk life through different dimensions of technology and critically investigating their authenticity and significance, people often tend to disregard or even despise them. They fail to realize that folk life constitutes the very foundation of civilization.

The evolutionary spirit of folk traditions is what establishes and nurtures intellectuality. Folk life, folk culture, and folk literature are, in fact, the fuel of modernity. They are scientific in essence, simple in expression, and deeply rooted in human experience. Just as easily available things often lose their value, folk literature too has suffered a similar fate in contemporary times.

On the other hand, folk life and folk culture are the true carriers of the Indian knowledge tradition. Yet, in the present environment, these are frequently viewed with neglect and disdain. As a consequence, the identity of communities and civilizations is gradually being eroded. Therefore, the preservation, protection, promotion, and scientific study of folk life, folk culture, and folk literature constitute the primary objective of this journal.

Through such research, folk tales, folk songs, folk dances, and folk arts can be preserved for future generations. At the same time, it will be possible to create awareness and understanding of the indigenous cultures, traditions, and worldviews of the communities associated with them. Such efforts will not only safeguard cultural heritage but also provide valuable insights into the foundations of human civilization.
